Corporate Illusion Cakes in the Media

AUNTY DONNA ILLUSION CAKES

Illusion cakes have become increasingly popular since the real Reality T.V series Is It Cake

Many businesses have ordered corporate illusion cakes in recent years and so some of these cakes have featured on TV and within ad campaigns.

It has become such a trend that the TV series Aunty Donna made a joke of it.
I had to create a series of illusion cakes for the episode where Zachary and Mark's "Is it cake?" prank got out of control, whereby much of the set had to be edible, The bag of coffee, the EpiPen, the defibrillator, the phone, the business card and the glass of water!

Not long after making these props I was asked to make the props for the Channel 7’s TV program The Front Bar. Mick Molloy started eating the set. He started eating a bowl of chips  cake and then he started eating the bar mat, the bobble head, the can of beer, a book and a beer tap.

Following on with the Is it Cake theme, I was then asked to create some miniature makeup cakes for an advert for Mecca Cosmetics and Too Faced.
These cakes were cut in front of the camera next to the replica real items.

County Road requested illusion cakes for an ad campaign.
I had to create replica cakes of a specific handbag, makeup bag and a coffee cup.

Deliveroo and Royals Stacks also ran an ad campaign in the form of a competition, whereby the winners would get an illusion cake of a Royal Stacks burger delivered by Deliveroo

Illusion cakes have indeed become more popular in recent years, however back in 2013 I had to recreate a giant roast pig cake for MasterChef.
